๐ŸŽค Srsly, Look at the Words Glow

Alright, buckle up buttercup, here's your Zomgish translation:

Okay so like, most of the bling for your lyrics shindigโ€”background colors, pics, gradients, fonts & whatnotโ€”lives in the Blow It Up On The Big Screen Menu. But if you wanna tweak the system-wide junk for lyrics projection, there's a settings screen for that. You're welcome.

The Grid

How your lyrics slide actually looks when it shows up on that projector.

Left, Right, or Nope?

By default, your lyrics are all centered like some kinda boring boy band. But you can also shove 'em around:

  • Left yeets the text to the left edge. Yawn.
  • Center parks it dead center. This is the default because we know you won't change it anyway.
  • Right slides it over to the right. Fancy!

Top, Middle, or Nope Again?

Your lyrics usually float in the middle of the screen like some kinda zen master. But you can move 'em:

  • Top puts the text at the tippy-top. The view from up here is chef's kiss.
  • Middle keeps it in the middle. Default. We call this "the safe choice."
  • Bottom plants it at the bottom. For when you want your audience lookin' down at their laps. Not weird at all.

Don't Let It Touch The Edges

Use this to keep your lyrics from getting smooshed up against the screen's edges. It's like a personal space bubble, but for text. Options:

  • None lets your lyrics go right up to the edge. Live dangerously.
  • Hairline gives you a 1% cushion. Basically nothin'.
  • Thin bumps it to 2%. Still basically nothin'.
  • Normal = 4% breathing room. Default. We're not savages.
  • Thick = 6% of margin goodness.
  • Thicker = 8%. Getting cozy now.
  • Thickest = 10%. Your lyrics are officially pampered.

How Many Lines Can You Handle?

Use this to break up those mega-long verse sections into bite-size chunks. Perfect for when you wanna put two lines of lyrics under a live video feed & not look like you're trying too hard. If you turn this on, tap the section over & over to bounce through the subsections like some kinda rhythm game.

  • None shows the whole dang section at once. Default. One & done, baby.
  • 1-5 lets you pick how many lines max. OnSong is gonna do math to figure out the best split. Like if your section has five lines & you say "max two," boomโ€”three subsections. It's like magic, except it's spreadsheets.

Song Name Up First & BIG

Wanna show off the song title at the start in giant letters? Turn this on & it'll show song info as the first slide instead of hiding it in the footer like some kinda footnote.

Which Way Is Up?

Flip your lyrics projection 0ยบ, 90ยบ, 180ยบ or 270ยบ. Default is 0ยบ unless you're feeling adventurous. Hint: you probably shouldn't be.

The Actual Lyrics Part

How your words actually look when they're starin' back at you.

Don't Let Words Go Crazy & Wrap Everywhere

This keeps your lyrics from breaking into new lines when you're projecting. It's on by default becauseโ€”plot twistโ€”song lines are supposed to help with singin' in tune. Mind. Blown. Turn it off if you're feelin' chaotic & your font is gigantic.

Pick A Font, Any Font

Choose your fancy text style. Verdana is the boring default. Other options:

  • Baskerville
  • Courier
  • Georgia
  • Helvetica
  • Verdana

Stop The Hyphen Madness

Chord charts are full of junk characters that mess with lyrics readability. This nukes those extra hyphens. It's on by default. You're welcome.

Zap The Extra Spaces

Same dealโ€”chord charts have spaces for alignment purposes. This kills 'em. Also on by default. We're basically your cleanup crew.

Bye, Weird Characters

Chord charts also have slashes, pipes & other nonsense that shouldn't be in lyrics. This option sends 'em to the shadow realm.

How song info shows up down there at the bottom (or wherever you stick it).

The footer's got your song title, artist, license, copyrightโ€”basically all the legal stuff that keeps lawyers happy. You can move it around:

  • Off = no footer. Gone. Poof.
  • Bottom = bottom left corner. Default. Classic move.
  • Top = top left. For rebels.

How Big Should The Fine Print Be?

Slide this to resize the footer relative to your lyrics font. Default is like 1/3 the size. Tiny, but readable. Hopefully.

The Lawyer Zone

Where we tell you who's allowed to sue if you mess up.

This is the licensing body that said "yeah, you can show these lyrics."

We're Licensed To...

Whatever organization name is in the copyright info. Thrilling stuff.

License Number

The magic number that lets you project without going to jail. Probably.

Backgrounds & Videos & Stuff

How pictures & videos get squished or stretched to fit your screen.

Make It Fit (Or Don't)

Background images & videos don't always match your screen's shape. Pick how to handle it:

  • Fit = shrink the image to fit, keep it pretty, but you might see black bars. It's like letterboxing for your soul.
  • Stretch = yank the image to fill the whole screen. It might look weird & distorted. Worth it?
  • Zoom = blow it up to fill the screen while keeping it pretty. No ugly bars. Default. We made the right call.

What Happens When You Run Out Of Song?

Settings for when you hit the first or last section & try to go further.

  • Stop = nope, you're stuck. Default. Don't move.
  • Loop Back Around = bounce back to the top or bottom depending which end you hit. Wanna go past the last slide? BAM, first slide. Wanna go before the first? BAM, last slide. Wheeeee!
  • Jump To The Next Song = bail on this song & move to the previous or next one in your set. Basically admitting defeat.
